Kerlin again! Gile and Fox win! at Super Prestige #1

Sarah Kerlin is out to kick some butt and its clear.
While the field results were missing a few people, the Bay Areas Super Prestige series are about as fast as they get on the West Coast.
Sarah handled the field finishing 1 minute ahead of second place!
Stella Carey took 4th and Betina Hold took 9th.





Steven Gile took the win for the Masters A race beating out some very tough competition.
Steven has been grabbing a lot of seconds and it looked like a win was coming his was soon.

On the Elite mens field front, Andy Jacques-Maynes and Justin Robinson got even and slotted Josh Snead and David Wyandt a few spots back. This is becoming an annual rivalry between teams as in years past its been HRS team nipping at the heels of the Strawberry boys, only this year HRS is missing a key component in Simon Vickers. Aaron Odell and Kereluck take a very respectable 6th and 8th!
As surprise to all, Michael Hernandez was back out on his new rig. Finishing 1 lap down to the winners, but considering his recent crash and recovery its a pretty impressive site! Welcome back Michael.

HRS teammate Joe Walsh isn't racing cross just yet. He has been focused on Xterra events.
On Sept 29th Joe posted a 5th overall place at Xterra Nevada and won the 25 -29 age category!

After posting 2nd at White hill the day before, Sarah decided 1st was better and punched off for a win at CCCX #2.
You can see the grinder of a climb.

Looks like she's serving up her groove.

So the word is AJM is back racing cross. His 2 top 5 results at starcrossed and steillacoom UCI races show his injuries are now to a minimum.
Welcome back to cross.
Sneads new nickname might be Sampson as the longer his beard gets the faster he gets. Sneads on a roll this year, riding strong!
Dave Twolf was onhand to stick the 1,2s to AJM too.Check the podium and see that Odell was 4th making it very close to a sweep of the elite mens race for the team. Dean Poshard rode strong in the last two laps finishing 10th.

Sarah Kerlin snaggled a 2nd in elite women.Stella Carey finished a strong 4th.Both Sarah and Stella rode a clean race when many of the women were hitting the turf with alarming frequency.

Matt Jordan had a great race and was 5th in Master 35+ As, right up there with the big guns.Max Clifford rode strongly to finish in the top 15.

Sabine over at Velo Bella posted some incriminating photos of what should stay in Vegas!
Mike Hernandez of the HRS Rocklobster team was serving time as a velo bella podium boy there. Phew.. glad it wasn't me, cause his white skinsuit would of looked horrible on me.

We can see that Aaron finally won some cash at a race! Congrats Odog.
Did I forget to mention all wins are split for the team??

This year the Team kit takes yet another turn. We innovated the re-use of the old school Argyle last year, and now the trend has gone wild. Everyone is putting them on their kits.
So we wanted to be different again, plaid and Chewbacca fur were just too much for people today. For 2007 we cleaned things up and made use of our primary sponsors logo with an overlay of puzzles.

A big turn out at the CCCX race for HRS Rocklobster team.

Josh Snead and David Wyandt tried to upper cut the old National Champ and Diesel engine Justin Robinson.
David and Josh traded turns taking shots at Justin, but in the end the duo made a few minor mistakes and Justin took the win.
The HRS team took: 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 10th. With a 10th and 13th.


Meanwhile in the womens Elite race it was 3 Velo Bellas to 1 HRS RL- Stella Carey took second to Barbara Howe who appears to be back from her couple year funk! Good to See Barb back to light things up for Stella!

For Masters Mens 35A's Tim Watson took a respectable 10th while newbie Max Clifford took 16th!

In the Masters Mens 45+ A's Steven Gile took turns beating up the field and snagging a second place!
Billy Hall took 12th as well!

Super amazing was Jeff Traugott (one of our sponsors) out racing in the masters B 45+ and took 14th, while Larry Bullard (our other sponsor HRS) took 16th! Scott Cally took 3rd overall in this group. Way to go guys!

It's a garden party

Yes, folks. Its going to be a feast in the flowers. Potluck will start at 4:oo p.m. or whenever people show up. We will attempt to shoot some sort of team photo so I can put our faces on the web for all the world to see, point at,make fun of, fear or all the above. Team clothing will supposedly arrive two days before so we will be able to sport the threads for the picture.

Seeing as how I can't ride I'll have to write about our injuries. Looks like some folks will have a later start to the season,namely Michael Hernandez and myself. There has been words of fear that the team has a jinx of sorts on it this year but I feel those fears are rubbish. Crashes are bound to happen and with thirty one riders on the team it is unlikely that we will all be healthy at the same time. This team has such depth that it will still be a dominant presence with a less than full roster. With luck , Nov.-Dec. will find us all back to strength and ready for the biggest races. Meanwhile I'll be working to secure the remaining bits to complete the new bike buildups. Ryan is well on the way to recovery and will be anxious to use his wrenching skills. Fear not.....

Team ride #2

Another small group met at the shop for a tour of the bluffs and a short loop through Wilder Ranch. Sarah Kerlin made her team debut-maybe next time we will have the right kit for her. The blurry photos were an indicator of my camera having an ilness of undetermined origin...maybe fatigue.

Death of a cyclist

It has started

The first team 'cross ride of 2007 was attended by Stella, Aaron, Jeff Patton, Jeff Traugott and Myself-Swiggness. Since the underbrush has grown alarmingly on last year's route an alternate way up to the enchanted loop had to be found. A new climb was tackled-easier but not easy when one is attempting to keep the wheel of Stella. Jeff Patton did this admirably, showing some better fitness than last year. The ride will continue to meet on Fridays at 5 p.m. in front of the shop for the next 6 weeks. I will not be here on Aug. 24th but I'm sure someone else will be happy to lead the ride. I can think of no jollier way to prepare for the season of racing that is nearly upon us.

too soon to think about 'cross? Think again...

Yes, it may be the beginning of summer but a whole storm of activity in the last week has caused the team mismanagement to get a jump on steering our crooked and crazy course to the muddier times. The 2007 roster will have some new faces and some departures. The new folks are: Max Clifford ( 35 +) Sarah Kerlin ( Womens A ) Matt Jordan ( 35 +) Michael Hernandez ( you name it, he'll race it). Now for the sad part. Looks like Shelley Olds has gone to Cal Giant to Join possibly the biggest team in Calif. with the most resouces ( Title sponsor of the nationals last year...) Rob Evans will sit out most of the season and our Capitain Simon Vickers will be moving to the eastern Sierras to pursue rock climbing and sports massage. Brent Chapman has moved to Bend Oregon so he will be the most distant team memeber. With all of these changes the team has the task of taking on the new year with a renewed focus on the local events. Our masters mens team might be able to effectively battle the Cal Giant squad, no doubt the best in the country in the 35 plus age group. With the addition of Sarah Kerlin we will still have a mighty duo in the Womens elite as Stella Carey looks to stay with the team. Before long we will all have to communicate and get any and all clothing,frame and component orders together. Most of you are set from last year with bikes. No doubt, the new folks will need all of the ameninties that returning members already posess. Our mechanic Ryan Bontrager informs me that he will be present and prepared for any and all of your needs at the races. We should consider ourselves very lucky to have a skilled person with this level of dedication backing our play. The final roster should be set in two weeks. Cheers, swiggboss.
