The mud and the blood and the beer

Wait long enough and ye will have mud. Sure, it took the whole season but a nice Portland style rainy day made for a nice wet exit of what has been a very successful season for HRS/ Rock Lobster. Stella scored her 5th win of the season and won the overall in the Peak Season series. Dean Poshard continued his improvement with a second on the day and second overall in the series. We were treated to a few seldom seen team members making their presence known, namely Rob Evans and Julie Brothers. Julie wound up third in the womens masters overall. Max Fraser, our only junior who haden't been able to race all season showed up and won his race....now he gets the distinction of being this seasons only undefeated team member. Tim Watson's consistant performance earned hem the overll win in the highly competetive 35 plus A division. Tom Sullivan showed up and secured his 7th overall in the mens 45 plus A division. Aaron Kereluk although not present wound up third overall in the mens elite inspite of mechanicals and illness for much of the series. Dodgeball was on a tear leading out the elite race until a rolled tire sent him to the pits. Frank Kalcic showed some fearless bombong of the muddy off-camber section where many of the racers elected to dismount and run. Yours truly missed a third spot overall in the mens 45 B division by a paltry two points..........whatcha gonna do? David Wyandt dominantly lead the series until injury forced an early end to his season. Nick Purtscher also had to hang up the 'cross bike with health issues. One thing about this tam, though- when one person has to hang up the bike there seems to be others capeable of standing up. We have that good of a team.

Representing

Tim Watson rode to a strong second place and as a result took over the lead in the overall in the 35 + mens A division.
We were treated to a Dodgeball sighting. Ben rode well until he had to stop to remove a few layers of clothing as the temperature had risen to over 70 degrees in the sun.
Nice sunny skies greeted the racers for the third Peak Season cyclocross race. Temperatures were downright tolerable and the coure condition couldn't have been much better.
Dean is a very tall man, maybe a little taller than this photo could capture. All the same, he rode strong, led out the first lap and wound up 4th, tying his best placing of the season.

Stella rode to second in the elite womens event and then rode the A single speed class for the second week straight.

Julie Brothers returned from Colorado for a little break form the snow and raced in the sunshine.
Aaron Kereluk overcame a course tape encounter and a bike two bike changes to ride through much of the field and finish second behind a hard charging And Jaques Mayne. Alex Work tried the A's for a second time and found the going a little easier as he finished in the top ten.

CCCX Final.......Aaron Odell and Stella take the overall

Stella....Stella......Stella......what can you say? She won the overall series title and still had enough energy to ride the single speed A class.
Aaron Odell took last year off from 'cross but really came back this season with consistancy and a level head to win the overall series title. With three wins this season Aaron has had his career year in '07.
Tim watson made the podium in 5th place with good results all season. Alex work nearly dominated the B catagory and tied for first overall.Even with injuries, ilnesses and things getting in the way of many of our team we still managed to have another dominant year on the local scene. Dean Poshard finished 7th overall and is within striking distance of the podium at the peak season series. With only two more local events left there are still a few motivated folks showing up representing HRS, VOS, Traugott, Lobster, King, Shimano, Easton, Paul Components,Ristorante Avanti and Santa Cruz Jobs.com .
