The team was at the island in big numbers as this is part of the BASP series that local racers are focused on. There's a brew pub at the venue with food and it faces the course right at the finish line so it was pretty good for spectators and racers who had finished to cheer on people still racing. There's also a relay race at the end of the day- something you don't have at most races.
Starting the day were the juniors . Our only junior present was in the 15-18 race - Noah Hekkert finished 3rd.
In the master's 55B race Jim English was slowed by a flat and finished 14th.
In the open B category we really had a mob. Jeremy Schloss was near the front of the race finishing 3rd. Kai Yee was close finishing at 4th and junior Aksel Medower at 6th. Nathan Delaney finished 12th.
In the women's B race Heather Bybee finished 2nd.
In the women's 55 + Kathleen Bortolussi got the win.
In the men's single speed B race Patrick Lewis finished 5th.
In the master's 35 A race Eric Brown finished 6th - in the men's 45 A race Justin Robinson got the win.In the men's 60 plus Paul Sadoff got 5th with Rick Ortenblad coming in 9th.
In the women's single speed we nearly swept the podium with Caroline Dezendorf getting the win and Hannah Solberg coming in 2nd. Maddie Ortenblad suffered a mid race flat and came in 6th.
In the men's single speed A race Enzo Berghout used his geard bike with a missing battery stuck in one gear to get the win with Matt Miller coming in 3rd, Shayam Salem finshing 5th and Kailin Waterman finshing 7th.
The results in the women's elite race said that Caroline Dezendorf came in 2nd , Maddie Ortenblad 3rd and Hannah Solberg 6th. I can't state to the accuracy but that is what I read.
Same situation in the men's elite race. Brendan Lehman told me that he thinks he came in 5th with Dean Poshard coming in 6th. Not sure what was up with the posted results but it would not be the first time that things were maybe not perfect with posted results of a CX race. If you were there and have more accurate info on finish order of these last two races, please let me know.
Next stop for a few of us will be Pan Am games and DCCX. I'll be reporting from the field.
