Surf city final and county championship

Janel and Natasha rode another great race to finish 2 and 3 on the day. The course was really hilly and demanding, much more difficult than Harbor High courses of the past.

Howie and Tim were 1 and 2 in the mens 45 A group with Howie claiming the county champion hat.
This was a huge victory for Will Hall in the 45 B race getting the overall series victory and 2nd on the day. Will finished no worse than 2nd in the four race series. Benoit Dubiusson finished 6th on the day
Brent Harris and I fought it out with the field of 13 in the mens 55 group. I came in 4th and Brent came in 6th.....the results for the day and the overall were not quite dialed.

Here's Tim Watson attempting to explain how he got 2nd place after spending a few days this week in bed with food poisoning......he was in disbelief ! Both Tim And Frank made for a really festive last race of the season with a super barbeque and folks from the team and outside the team were well fed. Although I didn't get photos, Aaron Bradford showed up and rode to 2nd place in the mens A race and secured 2nd overall in the series. Ben Dodge rode to another top-10 capping off an excellent season. Michael Schaller rode in the 35 B group but I was unable to get a placing for him. Alex Work dominated the single speed race again adding a county championship to his district championship.Results can be seen at Surf City cyclocross.

CCCX Final Fort Ord

Here's Benoit Dubuisson after a sprint finish in the 45 B group. He finished 8th on the day and 6th for the season. Alan Bennett would finish 14th.
The CCCX final at Fort Ord saw a windy, chilly day of fast riding and changing fortunes in the overall season standings-for the most part, favorable for our team. Jon Mason finished 7th on the day but 2nd overall in the mens 35B class, capping an excellent season. Michael Scaller would finish 11th on the day.
Michelle Perez ended her CCCX with a second place.
Natasha, Janel and Kathleen went 1,2,3 in the series with Janel at the top of the podium.
Scott Chapin could not stop the Cal Giant train but stuck it out for 4th on the day and 4th in the series with Ben Dodge going 6th on the day and 3rd for the series. Jeff Patton missed the series podium by only three points.

Mark Howland came back from broken ribs to finish 3rd on the day and 4th for the series in the mens 45 A group.
Jason Rahlwes got 5th for the day and 5th for the series in the mens 35 A group.

I had my best CCCX finish of the year with second on the day and 3rd for the series.

Nationals part II

Here's Alex Work coasting over the line in the top-25 of the 35-39 race after a last-row call-up. He would pay for his efforts with abdominal bleeding that would keep him out of the elite race the next day. Still, after 7th in the single-speed event and a good showing here , He had a great week.
Here's the fleet in the host house garage. We had a full shop at our disposal along with great support in the pits. The Ericsson's definitely had our backs for the whole five days of racing.
This is Scott's divetrain after the single speed race. close to 50 minutes with no pitting and this is what you get, mud and prairie grass caking everything.
The home cooked meals were a highlight-this night was linguini with bacon, tomatoe, onion and parsley-al la Amatriciana to be specific.
David Millet missed his start but finished in the 30 plus non-championship race on the first day. I guess starting a couple minutes down really eliminates the dangers of riding in a random group of folks you don't know on a slick, muddy course.

And here's another. Aaron Bradford 1st, Scott Chapin 4th, Alex Work 7th. I would say that Bay 101/HRS/Rock Lobster looked to be the dominant team in this event.

My camera froze on the day I wanted to take photos so there's little to show but much to be happy about.
This is the only race photo-Jon Mason at the start of the Saturday mens cat 2/3/4, one of the largest fields of the day and Jon got a front row callup.
This is the screw I got in my rear tire riding up to Pilot Butte on Friday with the crew. Lucky that I brought another tire and some glue so I would be set for the races on the weekend.
Here's the view from the top of Pilot Butte with Scott, Aaron Mallory and Ellie......I think that's how its spelled !

Saturday: Aaron Bradford elite men 35th. Scott Chapin elite men DNS...food poisoning.
Jon Mason cat 2/3/4 28th
Alan T. Ott mens 45+ 24th
Paul Sadoff mens 55+ 9th.

Sunday : Aaron Bradofrd elite men 13th, Scott Chapin elite men 40th.
Jon Mason ct. 2/3/4 25th
Alan T. Ott mens 45+ 24th
Paul Sadoff mens 55+ 8th.

Now the fine print. Since Scott had crashed hard the previous weekend he had a bruised tailbone that kept him from really racing to his potential. To further complicate things , he came down with food poisoning on Friday night and was unable to race at all on Saturday. Being a tough competitor, he got on his bike Sunday and in spite of all the problems was able to compete.
Aaron Bradford broke his seatpost on the second lap on Saturday and had a total of five bike changes. On Sunday he had no problems and did a career ride.

I would like to thank all the sponsors for making this outing possible and for a few of us our best USGP finishes. Also, a major thanks to Mallory Burda for transportation and help in the pits. She got 5th on Saturday in the womens B field and bettered that the next day with a 2nd place. We cooked most of our meals at the rental and were truly a team in all respects. This was a great tune-up for the nationals and we will be ready.

Home cooking on the road: Tonight, fettucini alla amatriciana, basically the default swiggboss dinner.

There's bacon in that pan, lots of it. I think we made enough for about two days. Buckethead's idea is to cook as many meals here rather than going out-I concur.

A view of Shasta on the way up to Bend. Supposedly we are in for some clear weather for the weekend of racing. It would be different to race here without snow and ice but I'm not complaining.

CCCX Nor-Cal district championships

The district CCCX race at Toro Park was a big success for the team-here's Will Hall with his 2nd place medal with Jeff Traugott , sponsor and competitor.
The two available championship jerseys in single speed reside in this team with Alex Work and Stella Carey.Stella also finished with a bronze medal in the women's A race.
Natasha Perry continues here good racing with a bronze medal in the women's 35 + field followed by Kathleen Bortolussi in 5th.
Slowed by a flat tire, Janel Lodge still held on for the silver medal in the women's 45+ race.
Kevin Crossley rode a great race in the men's A field and came in 6th, followed by Ben Dodge in 14th, Aaron Odell in 19th and Sean Coffey 22nd, back on the bike after a long injury recovery.
Here's the very first women'd single speed podium in Nor-Cal with Stella at the top.Another medalist was Jon Mason finishing 2nd in the men's 35 B group , continuing his run of podium spots. Other finishers : Jason Rahlwes 11th in the men's 35 A race , Tim Watson and Frank Kalcic going 10th and 11th in the men's 45 A race, Benoit Dubuisson 9th, Jeff Traugott 14th and Alan Bennett 19th in the men's 45 B race, Michael Schaller 14th in the men's 35 B race and I trailed in 9th in the men's 55 race.

With two wins, six podiums and a couple of breakout races by Mary Ellen Ash and Natasha Perry, there was cause to celebrate. The one unfortunate event was the injury to Mark 'Howie' Howland in the mens 45 A race after winning his last two races. We hope he recovers soon.

Aaron Bradford and Scott Chapin, 1&2 in the men's A race.....did you expect anything else ? Kevin Crossley rode from way back in the group up to 6th. Aaron Odell, Jeff Patton, Ben Dodge and Alex Work were in there as well but the officials were not able to put the results together.....maybe next time.
Here's Frank at the start, about 45 minutes after he wiped out on the course and rung his bell pretty good. Funny thing is it didn't seem to slow him down !
Brian Staby all smiles at the start....he must have known he was going to have a good race.
If not for a couple of thrown chains Benoit would have had his best result ever at a BASP race.

The rain cells came though and made for wild temperature fluctuations but the dampness made the course fast and fun.
Continuing her great rides in the women's A group, Stella Carey got 3rd.
Yes, there were other women in the top four of the 35 plus race but only our team showed up and made it look like a sweep, which it nearly was. Janel Lodge 1st, Kathleen Bortolussi 3rd, Natasha Perry 4th.
Michelle Perez made the podium in 2nd and solidified her lead in the overall in the 45 plus race.
This is the men's A field at the start. It was pretty small and we had four riders entered. Aaron Bradford was leading the race when he rolled a tire and had to stop twice and try to get the front tire back on the rim. He wound up riding his way back to 3rd and probably would have caught the leaders if there were a couple more laps.Tyler Frasca wore a team kit for the day and finished a strong 6th with Aaron Odell following in 8th and Jeff Patton in 10th. Will Hall nearly took the win in the 45 B group before a fall and a flat tire put him in 2nd. Benoit Dubuisson followed in 9th and Allan Bennett in 16th. was a rainy lunch but it was really tasty in spite of the conditions. The BBQ was manned by Frank Kalcic and the grillables were provided by Tim Watson. Jeff and Nancy Patton brought some great food as did Janel Lodge . Scott Chapin baked some cookies and sat out the race with a cold.
Master of the grill in action at the back of the tent. Nobody had anything near what our team had in terms of food, fun and results.
Don't blink, you'll miss my 15 seconds on the podium in 3rd in the men's 55 plus race.In the men's 45 A group, Mark Howland barely missed the podium in 6th followed by Frank the tank Kalcic in 13th, Tim Watson in 22nd and Brett Lambert in 23rd, a victim of a mechanical. Michael Schaller finished 16th in the men's 35 B race. Our sole entry in the men's 35 A race, Jason Rahlwes finished 6th with a strong ride. All in all, this is the biggest group we have brought to a race so far this season...that is until next weekend !

The costume race is always entertaining....people don't hold back.
Doing a lap on this course in a costume is insane as it was a really hard lap and the temperature was in the 70's , making for a hot and dry ride. The fun and games didn't las too long before the serious racing started up.
Here's Frank Kalcic in the men's 45 A group showing just how painful it was. Mark Howland is in the distance, delayed by a mechanical early in the race.
Good to see Brett Lambert back in the saddle. Maybe he'll be able to share the pain in the coming weeks.
Stella Carey started conservatively and with a really powerful last few laps rode up into third and a podium spot in the women's elite race.Not only that,she showed up with some artfully prepared " cake-pops" for the team. They were gone in no time. Janel Lodge finished 2nd in the women's 35 plus race.
Aaron Bradford proved the strongest on the day with an emphatic win on a single speed in the men's elite race. Scott Chapin, also on a single speed and nursing a cold still finished 3rd.
Here's Ben Dodge leading it out at the start. Unfortunately, he would have a flat and have a long run to the pits but he continued and finished. Kevin Crossley rode a strong race and led out the first half lap. He would finish 12th. In the men's 45 B group the placings were not up but Will Hall got credit for 2nd place. Benoit Dubuisson , Michael Schaller raced but they will have to wait for the official results. As far as I can tell, in the 55+ men I got 3rd and Brent Harris came in 5th. Brian Staby rode in the men's 35 A race and we'll have to wait for that result as well. The turnout was huge and I think the race officials were overwhelmed by the numbers.

CCCX 5, Toro Park

Although I was not there to take photos, ten of the team were and the results were very good. The limited fields were still challenging and the hot conditions with the steep paved climb combined to make this a very difficult test. Aaron Bradford scored his first win of the season beating Bissel pro rider Andy Jaques-Mayne. Kevin Crossley followed in 7th in his first race of the season , Ben Dodge with another top-10 in 9th, Jeff Patton in 15th.
In the masters men 35 A race Jason Rahlwes continues to improve finishing in 6th, Mark Howland did the same in the men's 45 A , Benoit Dubuisson 6th in the 45 B as well.
Janel Lodge scored another win in the women's 35 race incresing her led in the overall with Kathleen Bortolussi in 3rd and Natasha Perry in 4th.
In all, 10 racers, 2 wins, 4 podiums-something to be proud of.

The first BASP race at Candlestick park was the team's first test against the large fields that are the norm at these events. The team was not fully present as has been the case in most of the early races but we did have an excellent showing. Here are the results:

Jon Mason besting the 35+ B men's field for the second time this season. Newcomer to the team Michael Schaller came in 22nd.
Dodgeball in hot pursuit . He would finish 13th in the men's elite race
Aaron Odell was in the top three for most of the race . He had his best finish so far this season in 8th.
Michelle Perez looked in control and wound up on the podium in the women's 45 + race.
Jeff Patton rode hard and finished 23rd in a very difficult men's elite race in the hot dry afternoon.
The women's 35+ podium with Janel Lodge in 3rd and Natasha Perry in 5th.
The women's 45 + podium with Michelle Perez in 4th. In the men's 35+ A field Jason Rahlwes finished 11th , Mark Howland barely missed the podium in 6 th place in the men's 45 A race. In the men's 45 B race Alan Bennett finished 17th, Benoit Dubuisson 21st , Jeff Traugott had to withdraw with a painful knee. Still not 100% well from a cold, I got 5th in the men's 55 + race. Basicall, only about half the team showed up but we still had a great showing.

Although we only had about 2/3 of our team at the race we had a lot of success. Michelle Perez got an impressive 3rd in a strong women's 45 + field and Janel Lodge did the same in an equally challenging 35+ race with Natasha Perry following at 6th. In the men's masters Mark Howland raced to 5th and a podium spot in the 45 + A race with Frank Kalcic following at 14th. Jon Mason continued his unbroken streak of podium spots with a 4th in the men's 35 +. Allan Bennett did his first race of the season in the men's 45 +B race and came in 15th. Mary Ellen Ash also did her first race in the women's elite race and got 10th. Jason Ralwhes raced to 10th in the men's 35 + A group.
In the men's elite race it was pretty much the Scott and Aaron show with mr. Chapin and mr. Bradford going 1-2 in the men's elite race . This was Scott's first win of the season. Aaron Odell came in at 12th , Ben Dodge had a few visits to the pit but stayed in and finished 21st and Jeff Patton came in at 28th.

In the men's 55+ race I raced to 5th fighting a cold and Brent Harris had a first lap mechanical but still hung in there for 7th.

CCCX II

Many folks coild not make this race due to injuries, sickness and schedules. Nevertheless, the team did a smashing job, especially Matt Jordan who folded his 2007 team bike in dramatic fashion. Fortunately Matt escaped with only a few abrasions and his frame has been repaired and will soon see action again. The big winners of the day were Janel Lodge continuing here dominance of the womens 35 + field with Kathleen Bortolussi coming in 3rd. Michelle Perez won the womens 45 + with a strong effort and Alex Work rode away from the mens 35 A group , just like last week.
Stella Carey rode with a cold and still made the podium in the elite womens cataegory at 4th.

Scott Chapin challenged for the win in the mens elite race against pro rider Andy Jaques-Mayne and wound up 2nd after a very hard race. He was followed by Ben Dodge in 9th , Jeff Patton in 16th and Dave Wyandt in 18th who had a crash and a wheel change late in the race.
Other results were Jon Mason in the 35 B race getting 3rd, still riding much stronger than last season. Mark Howland getting closer to the podium finishing 6th in the mens 45 A group , Jeff Traugott finishing in 7th in the mens 45 B group, and finally I finished 4th in the mens 55+. I didn't manage to get more photos as the pit area was very busy .

How's this for a podium ? This was one of the few shots I got during the day but figure that there were Bay 101/HRS/Rock Lobsters on almost every podium, sometimes more that one rider and there were three wins.
Here's Scott bearing down early in the race to force a group clear.
Aaron Odell finished 7th in the men's A race with a solid ride.
Inspite of a hard fall late in the race, Dean Poshard finished in the men's A race.

Well, almost. This isn't everyone by a long shot but it is everyone who could make it to the first CCCX race at Fort Ord in Monterey county, Calif. We had folks on the podium in almost all the events and two wins. Placings will be up in a couple more days. We are off to a great start.

Yes, the guy with the white glasses is Simon , briefly in town for a short visit. The ride was so fast I think I lasted about 10 min. before hoisting the white flag. It's good to know that the team is rolling fast . Remember, folks: 5:00 p.m. Fridays at the shop .

Not all of the crew are in this photo and there were in effect about three different rides but everyone got a taste of the dirt. I felt some serious pain , which is what is supposed to happen. One other notable thing that happened today is that we got another team mate for the elite squad. Welcome Aaron Bradford to the team. The only bad aspect of this would understandably be for other teams. -Not our problem, really.

Howie gets the overall win with Brett Lambert getting 5th overall in the mens 45 A group.
Howie and Brett would get on the podium for the day as well.
Janel Lodge and Kathleen Bortolussi got 2nd and 3rd overall in the womens 35 + group.
It was another lucky day for me, 3rd on the day and in the series in the mens 55+ group.
Benoit Dubuisson and Jeff Traugott got 4th and 5th on the day, 3rd and 4th in the series in the mens 45 B group.
Stella got 3rd in the womens A race on the day and also earned 5th in the single speed A overall, quite an accomplisment !
For the mens A group podium I had to stand in for Dave Wyandt ( 3rd overall) . Jeff Patton rose dramatically in the standings to finish 4th overall and Ben Dodge did the same getting 2nd for the series and 5th on the day. Aaron Kereluk got 4th on the day showing really god form. The winner on the day and in the series was Scott Chapin , pretty much in a class by himself.
This is Scott in his final CCCX race of the season, finishing it off in style.
Stella racing in the single speed A catagory merely had to finish to secure her podium spot.
A.K. takes a flyer in the mens A race in the early laps. It really was great to see three of our riders in the lead group for much of the race.

CCCX 7, Ft. Ord campground course

Brett Lambert rode to 5th in the men's 45 A group , showing that his trip to the nationals didn't slow him down.

Storms hit the area the day before this race and really gave the sandy Fort Ord soil a good soaking. The result was a lightning fast track with a couple of slower muddy patches and a few greasy turns. Post Nationals burnout caused many a rider to lose enthusiasm and quit , even some riders in high placings. Our team for the most part really shown on this day, putting people on the podium in nearly every class. Above is the men's A podium with Scott Chapin overpowering the field and winning by a large margin.
Kathleen Bortolussi won her second race in a row while Janel Lodge followed closely in 2nd.
Stella Carey rode strong and finished 3rd in the women's A field .
Jon Mason rode a clean race and had his best finish of the season so far , 3rd in the men's 35 B field.
I guess I go better without the kidney stone. I came in 3rd in the men's 55+ and was really happy when the race was over.....it was a pretty hard race inspite of the fast conditions.
Benoit Dubuisson continued his run of podium placings at CCCX, this time it was 3rd in the men's 45 B race. The podium near-misses are as follows : Ben Dodge, 6th in the men's A's. Katie Jay Melina, 6th in the women's A's , Mark Howland, 6th in the men's 45+ A's, Jeff Traugott, 5th in the men's 45 + B's.

Well, there were more folks at this race than you would have thought, seeing as how the nationals were still going on. Nevertheless, the team had a good showing. Kevin Crossley had his best finish of the season with a 2nd in the mens A race, Kathleen Bortolussi got a win in the womens 35 + division after driving down from Oregon, Benoit Dubuisson rode to 4th in the mens 45 B division and lastly, I held onto my GC spot by riding, albeit slowly to a 3rd in the mens 55 +. Alan Bennett showed up but elected not to ride but his support during my race was really helpful. Even with a skeleton crew this team can make an impact on a race.

Frank's rig, all loaded up at the end of the day.
Post race victory celebration in front of Tommy's Mexican cuisine, Geary st. , San Fransisco. this is a place for serious gut bombs. Little did I know that the gut bomb I had really had nothing to do with what I ate for dinnier.
Here's Dave putting on a late surge in the race to ride clear of the series leader, Steve Reaney.
Two of our elite riders made it to the podium-Josh Snead in 4th and Scott Chapin in 3rd. Dave Wyandt would just miss in 6th.
Frank did his race and with not much of a break immediately began making fajitas for the hungry riders. I think that just as much as the great results of the team, Frank's diligence at the BBQ and at the beer tapper have secured us a consecutive victory in the BASP team trophy competition.
A rare treat-Simon Vickers driving 8 hours to race with the team at Golden Gate park , just like the old days.
Alex Work rode well enough to hold onto his series lead jersey until put off his line by a photographer. This unfortunate incident resulted in a crash, broken clavicle and an end to a terrific season.

Although not many folks made it to this race as the district championships were the day before , the racing was still very competitive . Our team showed up on almost every podium, the exceptions being mostly classes where we had no entries.....that would certainly make it difficult to make the podium ! The windy and sometimes rainy conditions made the track a little slippery in places and made for classic cyclocross conditions,something we have missed in the last few seasons for the most part.
In the men's 35 A group, Alex Work continued his streak of medal runs with a second place.
Janel Lodge did the same in the women's 35 plus race. She, like Alex was our solo entry in that class.
The empty 2nd spot on the women's elite podium was for Stella Carey but she was racing the A single speed class at the time. Sarah Kerlin got 5 th for a medal as well.Katie Jay Melina just missed the podium with a fine 6th place.
The mens elite race got split up early but Dave Wyandt and Scott Chapin stayed in the hunt and wound up 4th and 5th respectively. Kevin Crossley just missed the podium in 6th .
Not seen in a photo yet but in the 45 B class Benoit Dubuisson continued his streak of podium appearances with a 4th place, followed by Jeff Traugott in 5th , returning to form.In the 55 plus, I scored a 4th place in a tiny field-hey, it's still a medal and a podium so I'll gladly take it !

Pasta man Loren Soltes suited up and raced in the men's 35 B race after delivering a cooler full of pesto and fresh pasta. He was one of three riders on the team who are sponsors as well.
Meet Jon Mason, formerly of Oregon-now a bay area resident and a 35 B racer on Bay 101/HRS/Rock Lobster. You can see that helmet hair runs in the family.
Alex Work getting set for his start in the 35 A race, never taking things too seriously. He would retain his series lead with a 4th place.He would be followed by Brian Staby coming in at 16th with Matt 'Tiki" Jordan coming in at 29th.
Our tent was the place to be in all respects. If you were warming up, there were trainers. If you were warming down, there was a BBQ, a gourmet cheese course and Franks beer on tap. If you were just a little off your rocker, you fit right in. Decor was provided by the Jordans.
Scott rode the course so well that nobody could match his speed. His margin of victory was pretty commanding, well out of sight of the next rider in the men's A race.
Janel and Kathleen were back up in thier customary spots on the women's 35 + podium in second and third.In the women's A race, Stella Carey would come in 8th and Katie Jay Melina would ride to 19th.

The rain is what made this race epic in the classic sense.....the mud really slowed the pace of riders and the hot dusty conditions of the previous weeks were nowhere to be seen. A few folks stood out as the toughest on the slippery mud. One of those was our own Dave Wyandt who soloed away from the men's A field to win by over a minute.
This is Dave crossing the line in solitary splendor,well out of sight of the nearest competitor.
Here's the men's A field getting under way with Dave in the center.
Another heroic ride was Benoit Dubuisson getting 4th in a field of 37 45+ B riders. This is Benoit's 4th podium in a row.
Alex Work nearly won the 35+ A race, only being passed by Don Myrah a couple laps from the end after soloing from the start.

The longest running cyclocross series in the USA is supposedly the Surf City series.....a race that almost didn't come off this year but thanks to Ciclista Bonita and a host of other folks, it lives on. This edition was a tough race for most, lots of flat tires on the wrong side of the course and a few wipe-outs that spoiled a few good starts. The roster of podium folks that won pumpkins are:
Stella Carey , 2nd. women's A race.
Janel Lodge , 1st. women's 35 + race
Benoit Dubuisson, 5th men's 45 B race

Although this isn't the first rainy race of the season, it was the first rainy race that wen off without a hitch. The CCCX crew headed by Rod and Keith are so dialed at putting on races now that all other series are going to have to up their game in many ways. Even though the wind was blowing and the rain was coming down, the turnout was good and the racing was epic. Throughout the day it would become clear who were the strong and who were the lucky. If you were both, you had an excellent day.

It will be a day or so before all the placings are available but I can speak of some that I witnessed. In the 35 A group Alex Work rode to 3rd place in a field that contained several past national champions. Alex has really found his spot in this group and is always up at the front.
Stella Carey rode to 5th place in the women's A event and immediately after that race went on to the single speed A event where she got a smashing 3rd place. Sometimes one race isn't enough.

I'm not sure where Katie Jay Melina finished in the women's A race but one look at this photo and you get what riding in these conditions is all about.
The start of the men's A race was dominated by our team up front . Only one rider, Aaron Bradford was able to beat our best. Josh snead and Scott Chapin rode to 2nd and 3rd with Dave Wyandt coming in not far behind. Ben Dodge had a good race as well at or near the top ten.
This photo will be the unofficial team podium shot as the actual podium for the mens event was scratched-too much rain, not enough spectators. At the end of the day, this is what you get ! In other races the placings are coming soon, as well as other photos.

Festival of flat tires

Pilarcitos season opening race could not have had a better buildup; New course, lots of riders and rain ! The actual race was not the outcome that anyone expected or wanted, for the most part. As many as 1/3 of participants suffered flatted or even destroyed tires......figure about 200 tires at $ 100 each for the tubulars-$ 20,000 in ruined or damaged racing tires. This course had so many sharp rocks on it that it was as if the race was strewn with broken glass. Folks on our team affected by flats: Stella Carey, Mark Howland, Tim Watson, Josh Snead, Aaron Odell, Scott Chapin, Katie Jay Melina, Benoit Dubuisson, Dave Wyandt, Kevin Crossley, Brett Lambert , Aaron Kereluk, Dean Poshard. Happy story of the day ? That would be the man in the middle of the photo above: Alex Work before laying to waste the best Nor-Cal 35 A field in a show of speed and bike handling that nobody could match-and, he didn't have a flat.
Another good result was Sarah Jordan's return to Pilarcitos with a fine 4th place always riding near the front.Stella Carey had an unfortunately timed flat to finish out of the medals, but not far.
Jumping is one way to warm up before a race. Katie Jay was jumping on the line for the women's A race....unfortunately, her last lap would be walking with a flat tire like many other competitors.
Another happy story was in the 55 + race where Brent Harris got his first podium ever in 5th.
Little did the men's A field know what destruction lied ahead in the next hour. Much of our top riders would be out of the race in the first few laps. Scott Chapin was the exception as he endured two bike changes to finish in 2nd place. Dave Wyandt rode with a front flat, had two bike changes and still rode to 8th place. Aaron Kereluk had a bike change and finished 23rd. Ben Dodge overcame a couple of hard falls to finish 25th.

Lion of Fairfax

Josh Snead pretty much owns this race, not only winning it today but very year except one since the race was first held. This isn't a major spot on the cyclocross circuit but Ned Overend and Don Myrah showed up, as did most of our A squad. Josh, Scott and Aaron Odell went 1,2,3 in that order. Dave crashed out but Ben Dodge kept the tires on the course with a 12th place.

Here's Alex Work in his new guise, the killer of the 35 A class. There might not be anyone in Nor-Cal who can beat him right now. He rode away from everyone winning with a comfortable margin.

Alex missed his podium so here's the unofficial medal shot. My guess is that he'll be getting a lot more medals before the season in over. In other races, new member Jon Mason rode to an 8th place in the open B catagory. Also, although there is no photograph to show it, I scored a rare win in the 55+ catagory. Sometimes the universe gives you a gift !

Bay 101 got talent !

Voila ! Benoit Dubuisson makes the podium in 4th place. Jeff Traugott was in 5th but a mistake by the race official left him out of this shot. Our 45 + B team is really doing well so far this season.
Brett Lambert has once again made it to the medals where we all expect to see him . He managed 5th place on a difficult day. Mark Howland won for the second time in a row at CCCX , making a statement that he wants to be on the top step of the podium at the end of the series. Stella Carey overcame the heat and hills to finish 3rd in the womens elite race fighting a close battle with 2nd place and current national masters champion Karen Brems.
Kathleen Bortolussi showed some great form getting second in the womens 35+ field coming in ahead of team mate Janel Lodge in 3rd. Our entrants in this field are always in the medals.

Our elite mens team showed up in full and rode a great show of power and successful tactics to claim all but one spot on the podium. The field was the best yet at a local race and many a class rider got left behind by our best riders. Winning was Scott Chapin who is currently on super form from a very diciplined summer of training. Third was Aaron Odell, always aggressive in the race. Fourth was Josh Snead who worked as a set-up man early and mid race to help keep the pace high. Fifth was Dave wyandt who overcame a twisted chain which he fixed during the race to get the last spot on the podium. Only Justin Robinson was able to keep the flush from happening.
Kevin Crossley nearly got a win in the single speed A group , leading the race until the last lap. He hung on for second.

CCCX III Fort Ord

Kathleen Bortolussi negotiating the barriers did a good job on three hours sleep to get 3rd place behind team mate Janel Lodge in the women's 35 plus. Michelle Perez finished on the podium as well in 5th place.
Mark Howland outrode the field again and won the mens 45 A group.Tim Watson followed in 12th, Tom Fox in 14th and Frank Kalcic in 19th in a large competetive field.
Jeff Traugott made the podium with a clean race and a fine 4th place.Benoit Dubuisson continues to improve at 7th with Bruce Lodge coming in 9th. Allan Bennett also had an improved race coming in 8th. Stella Carey finished 2nd in the womens elite catagory and is building up quite a lead in the overall. She didn't bother with the podium -she would rather spend another hour on the course on her single speed where she rode to 8th. In the 55 plus men I managed to get on the bottom step of the podium yet again with a 5th place. Finally, at the end of the day the elite mens group went off and Dave Wyandt looked good to finish high up until a flat ended his race. Aaron Kereluk in his first race of the season pulled off an excellent 8th place while Jeff Patton continues to have a good season finishing 15th. Both Dave Wyandt and Jason Rawhles raced in the 35 A group but both DNF'd. Will Hall had a spectacular crash in the 35 B group that ended his race early. This was a tricky course with many opportunities for a rider to get thrown off the bike. Not many racers left the CCCX III without some sort of painful memory of the event!

It was champagne on the podium for Scott,Dave and Aaron in the CCCX Manzanita park race.

Here's some of the earlier racing with Janel Lodge leading the team charge that would wind up 2,3,4 in the womens 35+ race with Kathleen Bortolussi and Michelle Perez in that order.
This is how you make a bike go fast and win an elite race-keep your head down and pedal hard. Nobody was pedaling harder than Stella Carey as she led the womens A race from the start to the finish. Not satisfied with just one race, Stella jumped on her single speed and rode to 9th in the single speed A event.
Here's the start of the mens A field showing the large turnout and pretty much the whole of our elite team. The rider in the white and red kit holding the saddle of his bike is Joachim Parbo, the CX champion of Denmark. Scott Chapin would go head to head with Joachim and basically outride the Danish champ in what was one of the most exciting races in a few years. Dave Wyandt stayed close for the first few laps and held onto third with Aaron Odell in 4th. Kevin Crossley sprinted to an excellent 6th place with the top ten being rounded out by Ben Dodge in 9th. Alex Work had a super start but the heat took its toll as he faded to 12th with Dean Poshard close in 14th.
In the mens masters ,Mark Howland finished a strong 3rd with Brett Lambert not far back in 8th. the ever improving Frank Kalcic was up in 12th. Alan Bennett finished 17th in a large 35 B group. In the open B catagory, our lone entrant Davis Millett finished 18th. In the 45 B group our three riders , Bruce Lodge, Benoit Dubuisson and Jeff Traugott stayed on the lead lap going 7th, 12th and 14th. In the 55+ group , I was a lucky 4th place and Brent Harris got his best 2010 finish in 6th.

Photos will be added later but really, you had to be there to witness the first CCCX and how this team had folks at the front and on the podium in nearly every event. Early in the morning the masters men started out with Will Hall just off the podium at 6th in the 35 B mens ,Allan Bennett in 15th , Jeff Traugott finishing 4th in the 45 B group with Bruce Lodge in 7th, Benoit Dubuisson 10th.. Not too far behind in the 55 + group , I managed to sneak in at 5th and Brent Harris finished 7th .The lone finishing entrant in the open B catagory, David Millett rode to 21st. with newcomer to the team , Jon Mason crashing out in dramatic fashion.In the master's A group Mark Howland led from the gun and held off the whole field while Brett Lambert fighting all sorts of mechanicals and mishaps finished 15th, right behind team mate Frank Kalcic. Stella Carey rode a strong first race of the season to finish 3rd in the womens A race and later rode in the singles speed A group to 7th , nearly 2 hours of flat out pedaling total.Jay Melina got a top-10 in her first race of the season and her debut in the top catagory for this year. In the 35 + masters women it was all Bay 101 /HRS /Rock Lobster with Janel Lodge, Kathleen Bortolussi and Michelle Perez going 1-2-3 in that race. The final event of the day saw Dave Wyandt convincingly beating nor-Cal's finest in the mens A race. Ben Dodge overcame a first lap endo to finish 9th and Jeff Patton rode to a solid 15th inspite of an early hard crash. Kevin Crossley crashed out while in the front group but showed that he had the power to ride in the front 6. All in all, the team got three wins and a lot of strawberries , not a bad way to start the season.

Cyclocross season is not too far away and the team is getting ready with pre-season training on Friday afternoons at 5:00 from the shop. This season will see a traveling UCI program with several riders accompanied by the team mechanic, Ryan. Here's living proof that our team mate from the windy city was indeed in the house. Ben Popper has had the experiences of the Saturday ride , west side and east side dirt rides and the Tuesday luch ride all in a few days, not to mention running after trains ( His hobby). It might be awhile before we get a chance to hang out with him.....he's going to be a dad in a few short months. No doubt, the child will be fast on a bike.

Yes, because we are the champions ! Good work , folks. I think we won by over 40 points. This beautiful trophy was presented to me by Paule Bates of team Roaring Mouse . You guys brought it this year , probably more than ever. For the second time in the four year history of the team competition at the Pilarcitos super-prestige cyclocross series ,we have taken the team trophy home.It will have a nice spot at the shop along with all the other ones as soon as I clear a wall for the team display. That's right....you folks have wone so many jerseys, trophies and medals that I'll have to make a formal place for them to all reside in resplendency. ( Is that a real word? )look out 2010........

Peak Season mudfest

Todays race was a truly muddy ending to a relatively dry season. When the fairgrounds get steady rain for a week or so things get very sludgy. Seems to me we used to have races like this every season but it has been a long time since conditions have been this wet in a Nor-Cal 'cross race. This was good for some but disaster for others. While I do not have all the results I do know that Kevin Crossley rode to 3rd in the mens A race, his best finish ever at that level. Ariel Brown from Boulder, Colorado-yes, we have a team mate in Colorado- rode to 5th. Eric Higlander got 7th in one of his stronger rides for the year.

Alex and Scott decided to ride single speed and got 3rd and 1st. Scott wone the county championship as well. Alex also rode the 35 A race and finished 2nd.

This is Ariel Brown. He hopes to race here more next season. I sposored Ariel in 1992 as a junior. He still has his original bike.

CCCX final fort Ord

The rain finally arrived on 1-17-10 to the Santa Cruz cyclocross scene after what was a very dry season. The CCCX final race is usually a smaller turnout than the races before the nationals but the fields were pretty large as a lot of people wanted to get in one muddy race before hanging up the 'cross bike until next season. Kathleen Bortolussi and Michelle Perez got 2nd and 3rd overall in the series and capped off a season of good rides.
In the womens elites , Jill Fattor finished 3rd for the season with Stella Carey finishing 5th.

Here's something you don't see very much-two sponsors on the podium. Yes, that is Jeff Traugott in his first full season of cyclocross getting 2nd overall for the series and I barely hung onto 4th .

Scott Chapin showed that he was the most consistant of anyone in the CCCX mens elite field and really had no challenger close on points. Jason Rahlwes did a good final ride to get 5th for the series.

For the day , Justin Robinson, Dave Wyandt and Scott Chapin finished in that order , besting a strong field in the muddy conditions.

Stella Carey once again on the podium, 3rd for the day in the womens elite race with a strong ride .

Surf City final aptos high

The Surf City final provided a real tough test for all the riders and the mens A race even had the national champion Tim Johnson to set the pace. In the single speed catagory Sean Coffey rode strong and wound up second overall for the series with consistant riding all season. Dave Wyandt sealed up his win in the series finishing third on the day behind Johnson and the two Jaques-Mayne brothers, all of them professionals.

Aaron Kereluk rode well and finished in the top ten along with Scott Chapin, Josh Snead and Aaron Odell.

Brett Lambert rode with a splint on his broken thumb and preserved his podium spot for the series .

Kathleen Bortolussi and Michelle Perez got 2nd and 3rd for the series in the womens master 35+ catagory and won the traditional last race beer in the process.

The national champ took time out to pose for pictures with the locals. Tim is a class guy and stuck around the race until all the podium presentations were done and the parking lot was nearly empty.

Stella Carey won the overall in the elite womens division-she didn't expect it but the rest of us were not too surprised....Stella gets on the top step every year.

The Wolf triumphs in the overall and shares the podium with Josh Snead and Aaron Kereluk. If it weren't for injuries and some folks unable to make all the races, this podium would have been swept by the team. All in all, I would say that HRS/Rock Lobster was the team that showed up and really made it a race every weekend.

The Wolf strikes again

Sadly, my camera was at home for the final race of 2009 but here's an earlier picture of the man who crossed the line in first. Josh and Dave really set the tempo early in the race and the only riders that could follow were Alan Coates ( Cal Giant) , Scott Chapin and Alex Work. Within a few laps only Coats and Josh were with the Wolf who looked very comfortable in the lead. With a few laps to go Dave attacked and got some distance. Meanwhile Josh was mixing it up with Coats and the words between the two riders were not very friendly. Dave crashed and the two followers caught up and the trio were together again but this time it was a rolling discussion rather than a race, at least until Dave decided it was and he rolled off this time and was a solo winner with Coats coming in second, Scott getting third ,Alex in 4th. and Josh succoming to leg cramps and finishing 5th.Aaron Kereluk was up there in 7th after battling in the chase group. Jason Rahlwes got 11th while Dean Poshard wound up in the lucky 13th spot.....Eric Highlander was foiled by a nail in his tire for the second year in a row in this race.In the Womens A event Stella was our lead representative and she had to contend with two national champions in the field. She led for the first couple of laps and stayed close to finish on the podium in 3rd, well clear of the rest of the field.Kaite Jay Melina finished 7th. Sean Coffey had arguably his best race of the season battling for the win with Cesar Chavez ( Buy sell.com) and getting the second spot on the podium , holding off a three man chase group for the last few laps. Tom Sullivan and Brent Harris did a fine job finishing 5th and 6th in the 55 plus and I managed to get 7th in the 45 B group. Frank Kalcic finished 15th in a top-class 35 A field.

These dark images are mostly of the last night party that we accidentally stumbled upon Sunday after the last race. We were just looking for dinner but when the roller races and raffle started , we knew that the team had to represent and crush the locals.

Steph Thompson dealt a serious drubbing to all the ladies in the roller races without so much as breaking a sweat.
This was the moment when Alex took on Ryan Trebon and sent him to the showers in defeat.To the left is an example of what cycling can do to develope the gluteous region into a useful shelf for refreshments.

The team table must have looked a little scary to the throngs of hipsters in thier too-tight jeans and ill fitting socks.

If you can ride, you can dance.

Alan T. Ott finishing his race on Saturday in the sultry 12 degree conditions. From 109th position to the top 30 was how he rode. The sad thing is that Brett Lambert was not able to be in this race, a race that he would surely have done well. We will have to wait until next year to see what he can do in the snows of central Oregon.

Standing in the pits required thick boots and every article of clothing that you could pull on. When the wind would come up and the sun would go behind a cloud the temperature with the wind chill was probably just above zero.

This contrasted with the final round of the roller races where Alex took the initiative and removed his shirt. Alex and Scott went 1-2 in the roller races.
The top speed of the night was the bucketheads......57 m.p.h. !

The Cross Crusade drum corps were in full effect Saturday and Sunday. Below, Scott warms up before the roller races. The results are in......this team earned two medals at the Nationals: Steph Thompson silver (2nd)in the womens B class, Josh Snead bronze (4th) in the mens 30-34.
Jill Fattor had a top-10 despite a crash and a flat tire. Frank Kalcic had the ride of his life getting into the top 25 in the mens 45-49. All of the team rode hard and represented well and HRS/Rock Lobster definitely made a presence at this well attended event.

HRS/Rocklobster Fest in Bend for Natz

A big selection of Lobster kids were in town (my newer home town Bend) for the 2009 Cross Nationals.
The team turned out some crazy results in both icy and snowy conditions. I have to admit not just because I live here now, this was the best Nationals I have been to so far. The community really got into it, plus the weather was near perfect for Worlds prep as you could get.
Sadly a few folks had some mishaps that kept them out of the running.. but there is next year..
The rest put on an epic show with some of the most monster fields you have ever seen see the video below for example.

I was glad to see the team having so much fun and enjoying themselves.

Catch the flavor. Much thanks to Julie Popper for working in the pits and cheering loudly. More thanks to Ben and Julie for helping keeping the tent from blowing away on Sunday.A big thanks to Dean Poshard for fronting me a rear Der. so I could race on Sunday . Riders present from the team: Max Clifford, Dean Poshard, Ben Popper, Alan Ott, Paul Sadoff. Bob's Red mill provided most of the breakfasts and Cheryl and Richard of Lair Hill market were our hosts and saviors.HRS got us here and will get us to the Nat'z as well. Easton, Mavic, Paul Components and Chris King kept us rolling. Gu made us roll faster. Mad alchemy kept a few of us from freezing . Hudz, Voler and Sock Guy made us the most stylin' team on the course. Sheila moon kept the cold away and Fizik was watchin' our backsides. Jeff Traugott and Ken Sato helped make the trip possible. The bikes....well, you all know how we roll.

CycloCross Coyote Point - CCCP

In the absence of the Boss I will attempt another race report: It was a fine day for Lobsters, chilly and a little moist. This was the last race of the year for the Bay Area Super Prestige series. Finishing 1,2,3 in the Men's Elite race were Josh Snead, Dave, Wyandt, and Chris McGovern. Scott Chapin and Aaron O'Dell also finished in the top 10. This insured Josh's title as series champion. Chris, Dave, Scott, Aaron, and Aaron Kereluk finished the series in positions 2,3,5,8,and 10. Lobster Domination I'd say! Jill Fattor and Stella Carey finished 3 and 4 respectively in the Elite Women's race, with Stella finishing 3rd overall in the series and Jill finishing 4th. Master Lobsters Kathleen Borolussi and Brett Lambert both finished their races on the podium. Both were also 2nd overall for the series in their respective categories. Tim Watson was 5th overall in the Masters Men 45+. In the B Women's race Jay Melena rode to a 2nd place finish. Jay and Erin Dunn finished 2nd and 7th overall for the series.

Scott Chapin won the Elite Men' leading the rest of the riders on a merry chase for the entire race. Erin Dunn finished 4th in the B Women. Matt Jordan finished 4th in the Master Men 35+A. The race organization was a little sloppy. Your's Truly is credited with finishing 3rd in the Master Men 55+ but I know for a fact that the fellow they gave 4th place finished in front of me. My apologies in advance if I missed anyone's results.

It was supposed to rain today but looking at the pictures you would never know that. It didn't rain on the team parade, either as Sean Coffey got a 3rd in the A single speed race inspite of a bike change. Tom Sullivan also got 3rd in the 55+ mens catagory.

Jeff Traugott reached a milestone today getting his first medal at a 'cross race in 5th place.
On the women's side, Katheen Bortolussi and Michelle Perez went 2nd and 4th in the womens 35+ race.

This mob is the wmen's A field with Stella Carey getting 3rd , Jill Fattor getting 6th and Steph Thompson coming in 7th.......I think.
Erin Dunn got 4th in the womens B race but wasn't in the photo.

Nobody could hold back Justin Robinson today but our team dominated the podium with Dave Wyandt in 2nd, Scott Chapin 3rd, Aaron Odell in 5th.

Sierra Point Night Race

Just a few photos to show the Night Race scene.

A few highlights: The front of the Men's Elite field was crawling with Lobsters. Chris McGovern in 2nd place, Josh Snead in 3rd, Scott Chapin in 5th, Aaron O'dell in 6th, and Dave Wyandt in 7th.

Brett Lambert in the Men's 45+ A class was moving so fast that the announcer at the finish line didn't even see him and announced someone else as the winner. Fortunately the officials got it all sorted out and Brett got the win he deserved.

Jay Melena and Kathleen Bortolussi each took 3rd place in the Women's B class and Women's 35+ class respectively.

CCCX 4 Toro Park

Well, my camera died but there are plenty of photos to be seen on the CCCX site from this exciting race. There were not as many racers or spectators this time but some of the fields were substantial. The 10:00 a.m. races saw David Millett getting 10th in the open B 's, Jeff Traugott and I going 6th and 7th in the 45+ B's and Tom Sullivan ( still waiting for his team kit ) and Brent Harris getting 3rd and 6th in the 55 +. At 11 the 35+A masters had Tim Watson stomping his way to 14th place ( quite literally..) and Brett Lambert in the 45+ managing 3rd after two bike changes. Frank Kalcic had a super race finishing 7th. Frank's son Brian got 2nd in the kids race proving that last weeks win at Surf City was no fluke. Stella fought hard in the womens elite race to secure 3rd and Jill Fattor followed in 4th to protect her overall position on the G.C. . Erin Dunn rode to 3rd in the womens B's inspite of a rather dramatic crash. Kathleen Bortolussi was to one win of the day in the womens master 35 + with Michelle Perez following at 4th. The two of them seem to have that catagory sewn up in the G.C. In the mens elite race we had some no-shows but still had major players with Josh Snead, Scott Chapin, Aaron Odell and Aaron Kereluk. Jason Rahlwes and Eric Highlander also raced and fresh off the plane from the east coast showing up with not time to spare was Jeff Patton. Crashes would take out Snead and Highlander but Scott battled at the front for much of the race and finished 3rd , making him leader in the G.C. Odell was up there until a wipout sent him back a number of places but he rode back up to 6th with a strong finish. Aaron Kereluk rode tough throughout and finished 11th with Jason Rahlwes riding from the very back all the way up to 8th place. Jeff Patton , in spite of jet lag and no warmup rode to 16th . All in all, the team had folks on the podium almost all day. Jay Melina and Steph Thompson both battled in the womens elite race as well and improved from the previous races. Check the CCCX site for great pictures of the day......especially the aerobatics of Tim and Erin.

Surf City weekend races

The Halloween race at the Watsonville fairgrounds is always a big event-the turnout this time was huge and the fields were larger and deeper than any local race so far. The two days are a blur right now but I'll try to give you a brief overview, as much as I can recall. In the elite men on day 1 Josh Snead suffered an early flat and had to chase for much of the race but made it all the way to 5th. Dave Wyandt proved strongest of the team and finished a close 2nd behind a super strong Justin Robinson. Chris McGovern was not far behind, riding strong. Aaron Odell and Aaron Kereluk were up in the top 11 as well, showing that we have a super deep team. In the elite women Stella Carey went 2nd both days. Although the first days race was changed dramatically by a crash, Stella prved on Sunday that she has the strength to win the series. Jill Fattor finished 4th on the first day , riding strong all season. On the second day both Erin Dunn and Michelle Perez won podium spots with gutsy riding on a demanding course. Brett Lambert pretty much dusted the fields both days , winning in a sprint on Saturday and on Sunday by a huge margin. Brian Kalcic demolished the field in the Sunday kids race, even jumping the barriers . The Highlight for me on Sunday was watching Dave wyandt outsprinting Don Myrah for 5th.....on foot ! Josh and Chris rode to 3rd and 4th Sunday with Scott Chapin coming in 10th , A.K. 13th, Jason Rahwles 14th. Steven Sperling used the C race for a warmup and got 2nd......I guess it was a good warmup!

Pilarcitos II Coyote Point

Sundays race was a twisty, loose dirt power-sucking contest that really demanded a lot from every rider. The course was perched up on the hill at the park.....formerly just a short feature in previous races , it now contained the entire lap. Crashes and flat tires were common. Sean Coffey suffered a flat in the A single speed race, Matt Jordan as well in the elite men's race but the most noteable flat was on Scott Chapin's bike while he was getting a good gap on the elite mens fieldIn spite of losing a lot of time he rode back up to 10th place. With Don Myrah driving the pace at the front , there was little chance for anyone to get away but with about four laps remaining, Josh Snead escaped and stayed away until the finish with Dave Wyandt and Chris McGovern getting 3rd and 4th.Aaron Odell and Aaron Kereluk were also in the top eleven. Once again, the teams depth made it possible. In the Womens elite race Jill Fattor showed that she can really excel in the twisty loose dirt , barely missing a podium spot at 6th , with Sarah Kerlin and Stella Carey 7th and 8th . The very best on the west coast were there driving the tempo but they never got too far from our top three. Ryan and I were kept busy in the pits and at the repair stand-it seemed like a good number of the bikes were new and weren't fully dialed in. Kathleen Bortolussi made it to the podium with a strong 2nd place in the 35+ division and Tim Watson had a high (3rd)finish in the mens 35+A. Brett Lambert was 4th, hampered by a rider who twice t-boned him in the early part of his 45+ A race. Jeff Traugott rode to an excellent 10th in a very competetive 45+ B race, maintaining his top-10 overall position.

CCCX III Toro Park

Toro Park near Laguna Seca posesses one of the steeper paved climbs in Nor-Cal cyclocross and the climb proved to be decisive. Folks who raced the previous day in Fairfax for the most part suffered today , but there were a few exceptions. Scott Chapin went to the front and battled with the Cal Giant duo of Justin Robinson and Cody Kaiser. Scott wound up second to Cody but did outlast Justin while Josh Snead finished 4th after the previous days win and Kevin Crossley in only his second elite race finished 7th after passing most of the field. The Saturday race didn't seem to blunt the sprint of Brett Lambert for his win in the 45 A group.....his third win in a row. If not for a last lap spill our own Jeff Traugott would have gotten a medal today-maybe next time !

Stella Carey rode to a strong 3rd in the elite wones race while Jill Fattor finished just off the podium in 4th.
Sarah Kerlin was feeling the pain from the previous day but still managed 6th.

Kathleen Bortolussi proved that she is perhaps the fastest 35+ woman in the series and continued her winning ways.

Erin Dunn wound up on the podium as well in the womens B division after a strong ride.Sean Coffey rode to 4th place in the single speed A division , narrowly missing a podium spot.
